Our Inspiration

Our Inspiration

The name All Creatures Great & Small was not chosen by accident. It comes from the beloved hymn — and later the cherished book and television series — that celebrates the idea that every living creature, no matter how large or small, has inherent worth and deserves care. That sentiment is woven into the fabric of everything we do.

Our inspiration begins with the animals themselves. The quiet trust of a bearded dragon resting in your hands. The curiosity of a parrot learning to mimic your voice. The gentle nature of a rabbit who has bonded deeply with its family. These animals are not afterthoughts — they are cherished companions, and they deserve a veterinarian who sees them that way.

We are also inspired by the people who love these animals. The owner who drives an hour to find a vet who truly understands their tortoise. The child who saved up birthday money to bring in their hamster. The family who adopted a rescue bird and wants to give it the best possible life. Their dedication reminds us every day why this work matters.

Finally, we are inspired by the veterinarians, researchers, and educators who have advanced the field of exotic animal medicine. Their work has made it possible for us to offer a higher standard of care to species that were once considered outside the scope of veterinary practice. We stand on their shoulders, and we are committed to continuing that tradition of learning and growth.
